In the French Mediterranean region, the main populations of Greater Horseshoe Bat and Geoffroy‘s Bat are concentrated in the territories of the Camargue, the Alpilles and the Gorges du Gardon.
These are areas that are sparsely urbanized and with varied natural environments, corresponding to the ecological requirements of these species.
In winter, the Greater Horseshoe Bat and Geoffroy‘s Bat hibernate in the recesses of the Alpilles and the Gorges du Gardon, while in summer they come to feed and reproduce in the Camargue.
